For the past two years, Ed Maximus has been exploring other media to further his artistic vision. He started out with painting as a way to expand his fine art project For Colored Girls and also reconnect with a form of art that used to bring him peace. In May 2021, he inadvertently picked up sculpting. In the process of figuring out how to create a mold of a human head, he decided to try his hand on clay bust instead of having to rely on live model. That initial experience led him to believe that he could bring to bring to life some of his ideas through a medium that is more tangible than photography.
Within in a few months, Maximus has found his voice through sculpting and completed his first series titled "The Burden of Blackness". To invite the world on this phase of his journey, Maximus has created Studio Maximus , a platform that he will use to showcase his multimedia work and stories that goes beyond photography.
